I love receiving and responding to fan mail and since putting up my first cover in July 2012, have received many which i have treasured and have been much encouraged by them. I thank you all so very much for your praise, appreciation, suggestions, requests and support.
I thought it would be nice to share some of my favourite emails and comments here on the website. Of course I’ll keep all names anonymous, unless I’m given specific permission to reveal them. If you see your comment here and would rather it remain between the two of us, please let me know… I would totally understand and remove it without hesitation ok?
Please feel free to comment…and add to my favourite fanmail hehe! Oh yea…when you comment, do put something in the name box, otherwise wordpress treats it as spam :-p Thanks for reading my stuff π

Dear Joyce,
I was Google-ing and Youtube-ing around looking for piano transcriptions for Heaven by Ailee, and ended up staying at your youtube channel listening to your music after I found your piano cover for Evening Sky.
I’m from Malaysia too, really grateful to find your page. So touched to know that there is a piano teacher in Malaysia who is so kind and generous to share her transcriptions for free.
You played beautifully, and it is really inspiring.
I once learnt piano too but I stopped, when I failed at Grade 7, and with several other reasons.
I hope to play piano sometimes for leisure. Could you kindly recommend a digital piano model? if I’ve budget around RM2k-3k…
And last question, I’ve a small palm and could hardly play an octave with my right hand, any hope for me to play piano well in the future?
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and answering my inquiries. π

Hello Jun, so pleased to meet a fellow Malaysian here! I’m glad I’ve been an inspiration to you, and hope I’ll be able to encourage you to continue with your music education π I have very small hands too (smaller than most of my students’!) I’ve developed the technique to play 8ves pretty well if they are slow, but pieces that contain a lot of consecutive 8ves are still too hard for me to perform well! That’s why, my pieces never contain them haha! I make up for it by playing very expressively π As for digital pianos, I’d always recommend Yamaha. Drop in to a Yamaha showroom and ask them for something that fits your budget. It might even be a keyboard (88 keys, but on a stand, not a piano console). You’ll see that lots of YouTube pianists use keyboards.

Hi Sophia, I have been thinking about the Gu Family Book Ost, by Baek Ji Young or Suzy. The one by Suzy has already been covered, although the sheets aren’t free. So I guess I should probably cover Baek’s. What do you think?

Hello ^_^ I’m 15 and I’m only self taught in playing the piano. I can only play simple pieces and can’t understand anything more than that π₯ . . .I really idolize your skills, you really make me inspired to play π . . .I hope you continue recording more awesome videos and be an inspiration to play the piano to others as you are to me π . . . oh, if its not a burden, can you listen to ” A Goose’s Dream” the OST in the Korean drama “Dream High” and if possible make a video with a sheet music (its really an inspiring song) . . . please and thank you!

I love that I Dreamed A Dream score! It’s awesome even though i can only play the easier version. Would you like to transcribe Nikka Costa’s song First Love in the same difficulty level as the easier version I Dreamed A Dream? I’d be very thankful.
Keep up the good works and thanks for reading my comment ^.^

Hey Joyce! I really fell in love of your cover “closer” by Taeyeon. Once hearing it I’ve decided to learn the piece =D. Can I ask if you can do a cover of “Because I miss you” the OST of Hearstrings? I know there are covers and sheets, but I really think you can do a better cover =D.
Thank you very much for playing such beautiful covers and I am very happy and pleased to stumble upon your website =D.. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your faith in me π Unfortunately, I just don’t have time to make more than one cover per week, so I would prefer to do something that will be more popular. With so many covers already, mine will hardly be noticed π¦

Its okay =D. One more question. What notation software do you use or can recommend to me? I also want to try transcribing just like you xD however not as good as you.

I use musescore. It’s free and it’s good π You can download it off the internet easily. You’ll also need a pdf converter to convert the musescore files to pdf so that you can post it up for other people to download/print. There are lots of those too, but the one I use is by the same software company as musescore. If you want to use a tablet for your scores, you’ll need a pdf reader on your Tab that flips pages…not scrolls π The one that comes with the iPad is fine. So is the one in the Acer Iconia. The one in my Samsung (polaris office) is useless for music sheets haha!

Hey! Im a piano student (13yrs) who loves music! I definitely love playing the piano, (especially if I accomplish playing a piano song I really like) but when ever I sit down and actually play a song, it like climbing a wall which is impossible to climb. (its like a phobia which doesn’t exist and I’m not scared of playing) And my piano teacher is very puzzled why. My teacher says Ive got big hands and long which is a good thing, but I’m not using them well… How can I used them well? I want to get better at playing the piano (just like you) and be able to make a piano instrumental me too.(someday) Thank you for actually reading this and try helping me… >_<

Do you take part in any sport? What does someone do if they want to be able to run a marathon? They practise running small distances first, then when the body is good at that, they add on and add on gradually, right? Nobody can run for miles without training smart for a long time. When you sit down at the piano, don’t think of the whole ‘marathon’ that you have to get through. Learn a piece of music one easy step/phrase at a time, then add those together slowly. And remember that finger exercises for the piano are designed to ‘train’ your fingers and strengthen them. Just like marathon runners also go to the gym! It’s not running, but strengthening their whole body helps them run better. Ask your teacher for some technical exercises that will help you ok? Don’t give up playing music…even when it gets really hard. It WILL get easier, with practice. It’s such a precious skill to have!

Hi Joyce! Absolutely LOVE your cover of I Dreamed a Dream! Currently practicing it right now π I was wondering if you could so cover “In My Life” from Les Miserables. I’ve been trying to find sheet musics for it but no one seems to have it π¦ And I have no doubt that you would make a beautiful cover of it if you can π Thanks for all of your hard work!
